Gilps Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 So I’m now in the unlikely position of having been offered two jobs. Which is nice, but I’m finding it quite difficult to decide between them. So I’d like to take in the opinions of the wise old heads of the General Forum. Job 1 is working for a large financial company, in a slightly new and area for me. Represents a fresh and interesting challenge. There’s a bit of a commute and the town it’s based in is a bit rubbish. But my other half works for a different company in the same town, meaning that a lot of the time we could lift share, taking out some of the hassle and expense of the commute. Financial package is decent, great holiday entitlement and (being a larger company) should be considerable scope for career progression. Job 2 is at a small but thriving firm of financial advisers. Very similar to a couple of jobs I’ve had in the recent past. It’s a longer commute, but one to a much nicer working environment. The financial package is better, which would cover the extra costs and a bit more besides. Less holiday though. Being a smaller firm of the nature that they are, opportunities for genuine progression would be more limited, something that’s been an issue for me at similar places in the past. Does look to be a great little firm though and they’re good people. So what should I do?
