New Laptop

Well my trusty 6 year old Sony Vaio has finally begun to die. So I am now in the market for a new one. I fancy a Macbook pro for graphics work and movie editing. Because of this a 17" is pretty much a necessity. I have seen they are about £1800 onwards on the apple site. The missus works for the NHS so could get a handy discount, but does anyone know another way that is egal for getting one even cheaper?

Anyone got one who recommends them over a normal laptop?
