Garda overtime paradise ... fifty million of them on duty to-night. Horses, riot gear, vans. Thirty little schooligans in Phibsboro throwing four bottles between them.

 

Prior to that, there were six of them sitting picking their holes in the lobby in work for four hours this afternoon while the Ministers were meeting with a delegation about Rossport, and another two outside at the canal keeping an eye on this seventy-year-old chap in crutches who was picketing the Department all day in support of Maura Harrington.

 

I'll be seeing luminous garda jackets in my sleep.

The match itself was all right, too. 2-0, put together a few deadly moves while not playing too well, a good few incidents and Rovers spent about eighty minutes in apoplexy at the ref. Lovely.

Bohs will be wearing the exact same jersey when we play Rovers away this season, it's a breast cancer thing which I think Everton might have started, actually. I'm totally getting one when they come on sale ... the fashionable salmon Bohs jersey looks much better than the ridiculous pink Rovers one, obviously
