According to Swedish Television (Swedish) Robbie Threlfall will immediately join Djurgården on loan. Doesn't say fro how long, but I assume it is either until the new season kicks off in August or until the Swedish season ends in October.

Never seen Robbie play. Perhaps someone more in tune with the reserves can enlighten me. Is he likely to ever break in to the first team?

For our first team? I dont think so. He doesnt have size on his side and although he likes playing centrehalf, he's a bit short for that (at 5 feet 10 or something). He can play left back as well, but is like a centreback playing there.. good defensively but doesnt have enough going forward. He's been on loan at Hereford a couple of times and i dont know how those spells went but he has a lot of obvious reserves playing at a higher level in our team (San Jose, Kelly, Huth..even the likes of Joe Kennedy and Wisdom who are younger are rated higher) and i dont think he'll make it here. A spell out in that part of the world would do him good though, more playing time.

If not a career with us, he'll still probably make it at league 1 or even the championship with some improvement. It'll get us some money for him. Same goes for Antwi, Linfield and others.

Nah, he's more of a LB who had to play CB the year we won the youth cup because we had no CBs that year. I think he's a very good footballer. He won't make it here but I think he'll eventually end up playing Championship level football. His problem is he's just not that great an athlete.

Don't know why people keep talking about Joe Kennedy as if he'll ever get near our first team, he's being released in the summer.

He is?

Didnt mean to say he was a potential first teamer..just that he was rated higher than Threlfall. But he's being released?

It hasn't been announced yet, but he will be, he was on trial with Wigan a couple of months back. He's a good lad but he's not a very good footballer, he's not rated higher than Threlfall either, Threlfall was breaking into the reserve squad at Kennedy's age.

i saw nearly all the games in our first youth cup win and threlfall was very good as far as decision making and composure on the ball was concerned. his problem seems to be the lack of pace and physical robustness.. i doubt he will make it with us as insua is a level higher than him..

As for Kennedy, I have to share Maldini's view: he simply isn't good enough to break into our reserves team where we have three excellent centre backs in Huth, Kelly and San Jose. Put Daniel Ayala, Andre Wisdom and even Jack Robinson in the mix and it gets even more difficult. Looking at Kennedy, I have to say that I think that he has the build to become an excellent rugby player.

As for Threlfall, he is a very good left-back who was highly thought of but I don't think he's better than Insua.

Kennedy had a couple of good games in the youth cup against Chelsea and Bristol Rovers so I think that's why he's getting praise. I've been watching him for the last couple of years though and he's been poor in a lot of games. I think he might be suited to playing lower down the leagues if he is to make it as a pro cos he's pretty good in the air and a good physical presence, but he's not a great footballer.

He should have been born in the 50's. Then he would have made it :)
