What's the point of a touchline ban?

Fergie on the phone to the touchline throughout the game. Didn't Mourinho get in trouble with UEFA for doing the same? It'd be nice if the FA imposed their own rules.

So let's get this straight. He's been given a touchline ban but he doesn't actually have to serve it properly.

 

Why am I not surprised by this? Can the FA be any more openly bent if they tried?
