Perferct partner for Fernando

From what i have seen Robbie Keane would be the perfert partner for Fernando Torres. He has a great understanding of the game, works hard, good link up player and scores goals. Then we can put stevie back in midfield with masch covering him.

What do you guys think?

I knew this would be a Keane thread before i opened it

I agree fully. But Spurs wont be selling Berbatov and Keane in the same summer

I'd have David Villa myself ;)

Certainly not a bad suggestion - he has alot going for him i.e.

- Prem experience

- Eye for goal

- Hard working

- Drops deep and technically good

All qualities Rafa would look for.

Spurs wouldn't sell him IMO.

Berbatov will leave and they won't want to sell both of their forwards in one summer.

Don't like Keane - too erratic - we need someone solid. Dependable. Reliable and able to stay injury free.

If he could score more goals and stay more consistant in the league - then Kuyt might be an option - but he'll more likely be given a squad role - unless he can pick up that goal tally somewhat.

Saying that - it's make or break year possibly with Dirk - so you never know. He's got the will and the stamina - just needs to up his game.

Who turned us down to join Wolves.

Completely agree but i doubt Rafa does and the Spanish Inquisition on here won't either.

Sell Xabi, buy Keane. Makes perfect sense to me in improving the side as an attacking force and giving us more balance.

I like Keane and think he's a good player but if there was any chance of Spurs selling him they would demand a farcical fee, it would be nowhere near worth it so it's a non starter

Cobblers. His record in the league is excellent and he usually plays well against the top sides.

The fact you'd rather keep Kuyt says it all.

I'd have Robbie Keane every day of the week over Kuyt for the simple reason is that he has an eye for goal. He is an erratic player but a better option than Kuyt

Our forward line currently consists of

One player that wants to leave. One player that's been converted to a midfielder. One player that is utter dogs***. And Torres

So yea i'd take 23 goal Robbie Keane

Yes - which is exactly why I said that Kuyt would be an option IF he can up his game and his goal scoring tally in the league.

I see what you are trying to point out Andy but in your initial post you wanted someone dependable and reliable and now you are using the word IF with Dirk Kuyt.

Sure, Rafa can take a punt on Kuyt for another season but most posters would like to see the word IF in relation to our strikers removed and replaced with words such as expectancy.

Kuyt in his first season looked pretty handy in the league and as a player has improved pretty much game on game.

IF he can better his first season - he'll be a useful player - and he seems to have some sort of understanding with the forward line already here.

Saying that - if we bring in world class talent alongside Fernando - that would be most welcome

But I wouldn't have Keane.

Now Villa? Yes. Now you're talking.

That on paper would be an amazing lineup

Well I wouldnt be throwing any parties if we got Keane like yourself - Villa on the other hand - all over to my place

No. And i'd still like to know where you were reading about my coaching skills etc. Or is another early morning ' episode ' you're not admitting to.

I'm Irish and I'd have Keane. In saying that, I'd also have

David Villa, Berbatov, Adebayor, Benzema, Ribery, Henry, Messi, Kaka ..................

I just think selling one of the three best deep lying playmakers in the world to fund a striker you can find 20 in a dozen of would be absolutely madness.

Luckily I think Rafa will feel the exact same way.

One report today claimed Rafa thought Kenwynne Jones was the ideal partner for Torres.

I could see us going after him far more than us trying to sign Keane

Crouch will no doubt be replaced with similar.

I think Xabi's gone off the boil - though this is a debate for a different thread. Not sure why Big Stuff suggested selling Xabi and replacing with Keane, perhaps he can enlighten us ?

Haha, OK fair enough.

I thought you would have understood what I meant with that post, but just relax, it was nothing to worry about. :D
