Manchester Airport to Liverpool

Alright,

I am travelling to Liverpool for the May weekend and taking in the city match.

Now Ive been to Liverpool countless times but this time Im heading up a "party", missus, her mate and mates husband. So being the more experienced traveller to the city Id taken up responsibility for travel arrangements.

So we are flyin into Manc airport on the Friday evening , due to arrive at 9.30 pm.

When quizzed on the time from airport I said bout 30 miles and bus/train goin all the time.

So I just checked the timetables and the bus isnt goin til 11pm and the train is not direct and doesnt get to Limey til after midnight.

 

Anyone know if there are are more accessible routes to the Liverpool city centre from Manc airport, or would i be as well off gettin a taxi, got quoted £50 from some online taxi firm.

Is this a fair price or would i be as well off gettin a black cab?
