Handheld/pen scanners

I'm thinking of getting a handheld scanner for saving useful passages from books etc onto my PC. Does anyone have one or use one that they'd like to recommend?

 

Do they have to be plugged into a PC or do the yhave an internal memory that can save the images until you upload them later?
