boro where flying forward for 3/4 of the game today and they looked really good, controlled midfield and caused us all sorts of problems. only after 70 mins or so, did rafa change it and made the midfields start going forward. after this the game started to change in our favour.

 

I have never subscribed to the rafa is "to defensive" argument, but today he certainly was.

Voronin can't control the ball, plays poor passes and offers no real threat.

 

Kuyt has a terrible first touch, no pace and offers no real threat.

 

Crouch is frustrating to watch, gives away loads of fouls, loses the ball a lot but can finish a bit.

 

 

They are not great players being crippled by a system. Two of them are poor players, the other is mediocre. Baros is a lot better than any of them, and that's no great compliment.

i agree with you re crouch. he should the 2nd striker on the team sheet. i cant beleive rafa doesnt even think he is good enough for the bench.

 

but all three are much better players than they are showing and its down to the two strikers being up front with no support. torres can handle it, but he is freak.

chelsea's success was built on a strong back 5 plus makele. united, had plenty of great attacking players, but the signing of a holding midfielder in carrick, and more importantly vidic and evra have been crucial in their improvement.

Something obviously happened between Rafa and Crouch. Rafa supported him when he went 20 games without a goal. I have no idea what happened but Rafa likes "nice" players like Xabi, Kuyt, etc. Then Crouch starting dating models and doing Robot dances. Maybe that had something to do with it, i don't know.

Agree with every word - which is itself quite worrying!

 

We've got better players, a far stronger squad and we're NO BETTER than we have been for the last 4 or 5 years.

Rafa's treatment of Crouch is on par with the way he treated Djibs.

 

The difference is that he signed Crouchy.

 

Crouchy is our 2nd best striker in terms of overall ability. Even Stevie Wonder can feckin see that. He also gives our midfield more space when he plays and helps us control games. He holds the ball up better than the other two muppets and is quite skillful.

 

Like someone said already in this thread, why keep him if he's never gonna feckin play him.

I can't see what Kuyt, Benayoun and Voronin and Riise have to continously be played in one in two games regardless of their piss poor form. I honestly would rather we blood a youngster or keep the same team week in week out. Let them play in the reserves to discover their form.

Still think Agger not being there has meant we've had to defend deeper and thats not helped the attacking play, as has been said midfield is too far away from attack and attack is having to drop too deep. Im hoping getting Agger back will mean we can defend a few yards higher up the pitch and that will have a knock on effect, i doubt its that simple mind, i think the bottom line is once again our attacking players arent good enough.

 

I think you can win the league playing cautious but to win enough games playing that way your attacking players have to be top class and bar Torres ours arent.
