Liverpool's Reina: Man Utd nothing without Ronaldo

Jose Reina has wrote off their Premiership rivals and says Liverpool will win the title this season.

"We are top of the table and deserve to be there because you can no longer say that Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal are superior to us," Reina told the Daily Mirror.

 

 

"Chelsea's draw with us was unjust and Manchester United have been inconsistent so far and rely very heavily on Cristiano Ronaldo.

 

"I don't think Arsenal will win it this season either so Liverpool can now win the title and I think our rivals fear us."

 

The reason for Reina's confidence is simple, he believes Liverpool have the best manager with the best squad.

 

"Rafa Benitez is a big coach even if Jose Mourinho and Alex Ferguson get more space in the press. But that's not a problem because the papers have not been worried about us and that suits us fine.

 

"In the past, injuries have affected us badly but this time we have a squad to last us until the end of the campaign. We believe in ourselves and we feel we have the strength, players and ability to complete the season.

 

"We believe we can win the Premiership title and other trophies this season because we have such strength. We are all very happy now because I think we are showing that we can win the title this season. It's not madness to think like this, but a reality."

I don't buy this whole mockering / firing up rivals stuff, but I'd still prefer our players to keep their mouth shut. Don't give the press anything - Rafa in his first season should be the role model.

It's true that. But at the same time, I'd be really delighted if the players all actually feel that in their minds/hearts. Title winning sides in the last 10 years, probably a lot longer, have all been full of arrogant c**** full of self belief. Keane, Scholes, Schmichael, Giggs, Cantona etc. walked onto the pitch believing they were good enough to beat anyone. Heck, even Ferguson has got that sort of thinking from the likes of O'Shea and Fletcher. We haven't had a side like that for bloody ages where the squad, as a collective, truly believes they're good enough to win the title. Talk is cheap and all that though so hopefully they can back it up with more good performances

It pissed me right off last season when Messi slagged us off and then people on every forum were saying "this will just motivate us even more". Motivate us even more? It's a f***ing CL tie against Barca, if they really need extra motivating by an oppo player you've got to question what they're doing here in the first place sort of thing.

 

It's like tomorrow, I very much doubt Man Utd are like "We werent all that arsed about the game but we'll show that c*** Reina now"
