Holiday from hell and holiday insurance question

Just arrived back last night from the worst holiday ever.

Flew into Sicily with the wife as a treat to ourselves before we have our first kid which is due in February. Before we went we had the 12 week scan and all was fine

The plan was to spend a few days in Palermo before going over to Lipari and doing some trips round the islands then going back to Taormina for a few days. Either lazing on the beach or on pleasant little boat trips.

Palermo was rubbish a dirty, noisy, filthy place. So on the 3rd day we get the ferry to Lipari and it immediately looks amazing.

By the end of that first night on Lipari the wife was rushed into hospital with bleeding and we spent the next 14 days in a very small hospital on the island of Lipari with the wife bedridden and on a drip. We speak no Italian and the medical staff spoke no English. We have already lost one child to miscarriage so you can imagine how much we were going out of our minds with worry and with the added factor of not being able to communicate just making things worse.

The only info we were receiving was coming via the embassy in Napoli who were interpreting the doctors comments for us. I have to say the medical care she received was excellent and the nurses were brilliant. Despite being judged safe to travel we had a very scary journey home via ferry, plane and car and i am delighted and unbelievably relieved to report that wife and baby to be are both safe and sound as i type watching Eastenders.

Coming home from holiday has never felt so good.

Unfortunately despite being insured the insurance company's repatriation team f***ed up just about everything and made the journey home even more stressful due to their incompetence. Do any forumites have experience or work in insurance as i now need to start putting my claim together and dont trust the feckers one bit??
