That's not what you're supposed to inspect

A senior police officer met a woman for a sex session in a room at Gatwick Airport whilst on duty, a court heard.

British Transport Police (BTP) Insp Masod Khan, 41, told Southwark Crown Court he arranged to meet the woman through the website Uniform Dating.

He drove from his office in Victoria, London, in a marked police car and in uniform to the airport's railway station where he met the 43-year-old.

Insp Masod Khan

CCTV footage from the station showed the pair going into a small office at the end of one of the platforms and emerge 20 minutes later on 23 July.

Mr Khan, of Coulsden, London, who has been an officer for 15 years, admitted that the woman carried out a sex act on him and they had full intercourse.

He said: "It was absolutely the wrong thing to do, morally and professionally. I should never have done it."

Prosecutor Michael Mulkerrins said that at the time, Mr Khan was the most senior officer on duty in charge of the south east rail network and had a team of 20 officers serving under him.

Police duties

Mr Khan told the court he had arranged the meeting the previous day, believing he would be off duty, but when his relieving officer did not take over at the expected time he drove to Gatwick.

He said he kept in contact with his office by mobile and radio during the meeting.

Khan agreed that his conduct undermined the integrity of an inspector because staff would have thought he was carrying out police duties.

The trial continues.
