amsterdam to rotterdam

i am going to go to the pre season friendly in rotterdam. i was thinking of staying in amsterdam and then going to rotterdam maybe by train? is it easy to get to?

 

i dont want to go to amsterdam, but my wife, next door neighbour and his wife have convinced me to go. it sounds like my worst nightmare to be honest.
