Inside Dish: Gillett close to deal with Evernham

Montreal Canadiens owner George N. Gillett is close to a partnership arrangement with Evernham Motorsports. Gillett, who also is the owner of the Liverpool soccer team in the English Premier League, would be the second major sports team owner to join NASCAR this season, following Red Sox owner John Henry's buy-in to what is now Roush Fenway Racing. Evernham fields the No. 9 Dodge driven by Kasey Kahne, the No. 19 Dodge of Elliott Sadler and the No. 10 Dodge of Scott Riggs. All three are struggling; Sadler, 16th, ranks highest in the points standings. . .

Sky Sports News are reporting that the initial story has been muddled up. The original reporter is hard of hearing. What appeared to be "Evernham" was actually "Everton" and it's preparation not just for a joint stadium but a joint club!

Anyone watch the Gabby Logan show yesterday when a journo said he was with Gillett on the tuesday morning before the chelsea game last week, and they went to anfield together, and Gillett walked up the whole of the Kop end, and counted the steps, claiming there was 72 rows and that it was his spiritual home.
