feel a bit sorry for Derby - 8 points clear of the other play-off places and only two off Birmingham but still having to go through the circus.

 

Mk Dons are in much the same position but they don't deserve any favours.

I've always thought it should be changed so that 5th plays 6th. The winners of that play 4th and the winners of that play 3rd.

Oh I agree, the system is clear to everyone. I just do feel a bit of sympathy for the team that finishes 3rd. That said of course they should therefore be good enough to win 3 extra games.

I only feel any sympathy when there is such a big gap between 3rd and the rest or wahetever, as has happened with Derby and the Dons this time round.

Didn't they do something similar to that in Rugby and it ended up with the lower placed teams winning as they had match practise whereas the top 'seeded' team hadn't played for a couple of weeks.
