Russian ex-president Yeltsin dies

Former Russian President Boris Yeltsin has died, Russian media report, citing a Kremlin statement.

 

Yeltsin became Russia's first democratically elected president after Mikhail Gorbachev resigned as Soviet leader in December 1991.
