Sunshine : quite enjoyed it, the visual effects are very good - clearly influenced by 2001, Solaris, Alien and even Das Boot. It hinted at a Religion v Science debate about who should decide when man dies but bottled it - probably for the American market. Good hour and a halves worth of entertainment though.

 

The Lives of Others : quite simply the best film I've seen in a long time. I scoffed when Pan's Labyrinth did not get the best foreign language Oscar but I have to say the Academy got it spot on giving it to this. For those who have not heard of it, it is about East Germany in the 1980s and how the Stasi control and monitor people's lives. Go and see it!!!!
