Ross County youngster Gary Mackay Steven signs for Liverpool

Sixteen year-old Scottish midfielder Gary Mackay Steven has today signed a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool FC, taking him to Anfield for the start of the 2007/8 season.

The youngster is widely recognised as one of the most promising talents north of the border and will sign a two-year contract with Rafa Benitez's side on July 1st.

Despite only being sixteen, Gary has been an important member of the outstanding Ross County Under 19 side this season and he scored in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Youth Cup in the 3-2 home win over Hibernian in the middle of February, rewarding County with a semi-final against Glasgow Rangers. Gary also scored in the recent 3-2 League win over Berwick Rangers.

Gary was understandably delighted with the prospect of moving to one of Europe's biggest clubs in the summer, telling www.stellargroup.co.uk:

"I am very much looking forward to it. It will be a big challenge for me, but one that I believe I can handle."

Thats a coup and a half isn't it?

Hold on, is the guy who was touring various clubs including Celtic and Chelsea before making a decision?

Yes, I can't understand why Rafa won't buy a Scot and get us an automatic League triumph. The stars are in the right position this summer too.
