Cunny Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 they are playing Liverpool next week, the bbc description of them makes them sound like I would really like them Inspired by the beautiful melancholy of acts such as Sparklehorse, Smog and Johnny Cash, the country-tinged atmospherics of this first step are a clear indication of the gentle passion that was burning in his previous bands (Gecko Levy, The Mule Boom). Located in Manchester, Cherry Ghost has already received considerable attention as a result of several low-key acoustic gigs and from the curiosity inspired by his previous incarnations. His ambitions, whilst not yet fully realised, are clear; to deliver music which is truthful, simple, inspiring and timeless. He currently has 20 or so songs written for Cherry Ghost. Cherry Ghost?s songs are, given their bedroom birth and recording, remarkable. They shimmer and swell, echo not just the major influence of the Flaming Lips, but also touches of Bowie, Wilco and Mercury Rev, and have the potential to steal your heart as soon as you hear them. Put bluntly, a major talent has arrived. "Songs of staggering beauty, the best kept secret in Manchester." - City Life anybody heard them or seen them?
