As a counterpoint to the Vista thread, I've decided to finally take the plunge and go the Linux route. I'll be trying to set up a dual boot machine with XP on one partition and some variant of Linux on the other.

 

What flavour of Linux is recommended? I'm a complete Linux novice, so any advice or useful links at all would be greatly appreciated!
