anny road Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 There was some people in the Centenary that every time the play went near them they kept waving an irish tricolour Now i suppose you can bring what you want to the ga,e but I really do not understand what possesses someone to wave a national flag at a Liverpool game Does it f***ing matter? Do you have to tell everyone you are Irish or Norwegian or even English? Whats the point? I am sure you are very proud of where you are from but you are here to support Liverpool not express pride in your nationality I find it wierd

Maybe some of the foreign players like to see their flag though.
anny road Posted February 3, 2007 Author Posted February 3, 2007 100% agree, and I'm Irish. I really hate it. Maybe some of the foreign players like to see their flag though. i know some who take a Basque flag for Xabi and i think thats a tad different (i dont agree with it like)....
JohnnyH Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 (edited) i know some who take a Basque flag for Xabi and i think thats a tad different (i dont agree with it like).... Yeah, I think that's a bit different as it's usually some English lad showing Xabi he loves him (in a purely plutonic way in the way one man can love another man like he loves a nice car kind of way. Not gay like. ) It's funny now that I think about it but when I'm at the game I couldn't care less what country any of our players come from. I'm supporting the jersey, not the colour or country of the person in the shirt. The only place that I want to see players from is Liverpool. I don't mind if there from somewhere else, but it's great to hear a scouse accent on the pitch. I don't yearn for some Irish lad to make it. I yearn for ANY lad to make it. hagi_complex Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I'm Irish and I don't understand it either. I reckon they must think they've a better chance of pointing themselves out on the telly to their friends and family back home, the silly f*ckers.
anny road Posted February 3, 2007 Author Posted February 3, 2007 I don't think it's a problem at all. i do....i think its strange support Liverpool not Ireland
JohnnyH Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 i do....i think its strangesupport Liverpool not Ireland Unless it's December 1995.
JohnnyH Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 It'll make sense to the flag carriers. And it was the only time I've ever had anything Irish on me at Anfield

aka Dus Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I don't like it either. A bit like wearing your county GAA shirt to Ireland away games. Not really sure what they are trying to say.
Guest RedLegend Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Not really sure what they are trying to say. This is where I am from in Ireland I imagine.

Guest Ant Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I seen the Irish flag being waved, got nothing against the Irish, but Indian, English, Irish you are here for one sole reason thats for Liverpool Football Club...

Did anyone see the fella waving the Spanish Arteta shirt today? They were singing "Red s****" and his mate next to him obviously had a word in his ear about what he was waving so he stuffed it under his seat. The t**
Kite Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Me Irish too. Go to Liverpool matches with my Liverpool scarf, never ever would think to bring a tricolour, would feel like a right twit waving a national flag at a Liverpool game and pretty much makes me cringe when I see others do it. Not sure whether its a "look we've come all the way from this place to support you" type thing but totally agree with anny, its just a bit weird.
MikeK88 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 (edited) Maybe if it had something in relation to Finnan written across it you could see a justification, but other than that I see no point. As some of you said, you're here to support Liverpool and dont care were the players are from - so bringing their national flag means nothing. It's not RTK/KFS or any other campaign that you can think of, it's basic common sense: Goto a Liverpool match, support Liverpool Goto an International match, Support liverpool the country Edited February 4, 2007 by PiGH

Billy Dane Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Don't see the point in bringing National flags to the game myself, but what pisses me off more are the tossers on the Kop who think being a Liverpool fan means booing the opposition keeper as he runs to the kop for the start of the second half. We have our own small time and classless fans as well as the bluesh**e.

Same thing happened against West Brom last season when Kuszcak didn't clap until Curtis Davies ran over and told him.

Billy Dane Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 sorry didn't make myself clear. I know we boo them if they don't clap back, I'm talking about the d1ckheads who start booing them when everyone else is applauding before the keeper has had a chance to return the applause.I always thought this is one of the things that stood us apart from other fans.
