If someone said to me would I take 3rd Place with 11 points behind the leaders, with the Barca game in prospect I wouldn't dismiss the idea...

We have to have some balance. The start of the season has been relatively poor, except for the home form. We have not reached the expectations, but then again Rafa built these expectations with the top work he has done. The cup defeats were steps back and I don't think playing weaker teams in either games was the right decision. But we overall we are progressing. The squad is constantly improving and we still have alot to play for as you say. Barca have two mighty game on their hands as our players will be right up for that game.

with bolton and pompey losing, an arsenal win tomorrow does two things. opens up a gap between 4th and 5th, easing the pressure on Cl qualification for those of us in the top 4, but also will pile up the pressure on the top 2. Seeing us and arsenal closing the gap is going to test both chelsea and the mancs, no doubt about it.

 

This title race is well and truly back on, and I'd love it, just love it I tell ya if we could get right back amongst them.

The FA Cup game was a fluke. We outplayed them for 90% of the game and made silly errors. With Reina in goal we would have won that game. The LC was like a reserve game.

The other teams might slip up, but our away form barring the odd game (Wigan and Watford) has not been consistant enough and I think we will drop more points. At home different story.

maybe - but what upset me then upset me today - we won we deserved it but we should have won by more ! - and thats the point, we need to raise the percentage of chances taken ( scored from)

I think a lot will depend on the Arsenal game tomorrow. If the Mancs win then I honestly believe that we wont catch them, a draw or a defeat could open things slightly, but even then it's going to be a huge tall order.

 

I want second place, but I don't want the Mancs winning the league. I know I can't have both.

Mancs yet to play at the Emirates, Anfield and Stamford Bridge. Still think they'll win it mind but there's certainly potential for them to drop a few points.

They could actually lose at Anfield and Emirates tomorrow and a draw at the bridge will really open it up for us....as long as we keep winning.

 

I have a weird feeling that we are going to get even better between now and the end of the season and could give a late surge for top spot.
