Agger - Didnt have to do much but did it well 7

Aurelio - Really impressive today 8

 

Pennant - what a strike 8

Gerrard - Bossed the midfield with Xabi 8

Alonso - Bossed the midfield with Stevie 8

Riise - if that 40000 yarder had gone in... overall better than usual 8

 

Crouch - Should've got a pair but caused them all sorts of problems 8

Kuyt - Immense, deserved his goal and was everywhere 9 MOM

Reina 7 - His sweeping was great, didn't have much else to do though

 

Finnan 7 - Steady as always

Carra 8 - Boss

Agger 7 - Composed and did his job very well

Aurelio 9 - Very, very, very good. Excellent both in defence and attack

 

Pennant 7 - Great goal and worked hard

Gerrard 9 - Magnificent in the second half. MOM

Alonso 8 - Ran the show at times. Some bloody brilliant passes

Riise 7 - Better than usual, what a strike!

 

Crouch 7 - Caused Chelsea a lot of problems, but he should have scored

Kuyt 8 - Brilliant goal, and remained dangerous throughout

Thought Pennant and Riise had poor first halves personally. A lot of moves broke down with those two. Specially JAR. But they upped their games second half

 

Anyone not giving Carra 10 is being unnecessarily harsh

Riise gets a 10 just for that shot which was just incredible - almost from the half way line, on the half run, he didn't even hit the ball up but hit it straight.

 

Would have been the goal of the season if it had gone in.

 

Ballack and Drogba get a 10 also for providing the most comical moment of the day with that free kick routine.

They all get a 10. How s*** was Lampard as usual, I think ive only ever seen him have one good game against a big team in his life and that was against a washed up Bayern Munich.

Lets not get carried away now. They were poor, weakened, and not much threat outside Drogba which is why Carra was the key man. We did what we're great at, getting ahead and being very comfortable. We were pretty good, didn't rip them a new a***, didn't have to, a lot of fair marks in this thread.

They were made to look poor by being given f*** all time or space when they had the ball. We were very good.

All the players deserve massive credit today but none of them would get the 10/10 that the TEAM performance deserved. Every one of them did it all for the shirt today and I was proud of them. And the crowd. They were great. Wait, WE were great!

I agree we were very good, I think we were better aginst Bolton mind. I'm not going in for the we gave them no space cliche. They were all over the place at the back, and their execution was really poor. The match was fairly pedestrian for a premiership clash, a lot of inertia around. They had quite a bit of joy playing the ball in behind us on our left, and we didn't deal with throws or crosses that convincingly, both threw up a fair few bits of avoidable danger. Obviously glad we won, but I'm not thinking we've suddenly found the keys to the kingdom, good win, nothing more.

I thought we played extremely well first 25 then after that only played in fits and starts. But that was all we needed to comfortably win. Had Chelsea found their form it would have been interesting to see if we could up our game another level. I felt at times we were coasting

Reina 7 - didnt have much to do, but what he did,he did well.

 

Finnan 8- Solid performance at the back. made good use of the ball throughout the whole match

Carra 9 - commading presence in defence, shut out drogba completely.

Agger 7.5 - not as commanding as carra, but very composed and did a sound job in the heart of our defence

Aurelio 8 - solid defensively and provided width down the flank

 

Pennant 7.5 - Great goal, didnt give away possession, but would like him to attack full-backs more down the line.

Gerrard 7.5 - not his usual commanding self but did a great job in holding a compact and solid midfield

Alonso 7.5 - started game brightly but after the knock his performance dropped a littele.

Riise 6.5 - great strike, but needs to raise his game to another level, looks a bit rusty.

 

Crouch 6.5- Good all-round contribution, but needs to learn how to become more dangerous in the box.

Kuyt 7.5 - Brilliant goal, great all-round contribution, but for me should have scored at least another.

 

Bellamy- No vote, but looked instantly dangerous, and gave a whole new dimension to the team, esp. width.

Everything in perspective...

 

If Gerrard played a 9 as some are saying on here what did he play in "that" season when he indeed carried the team on his back 12s 14s?

 

I loved the result but they had no stoppers, 2 actual defenders and a 19 year old off mid who played his trade in norway a year ago playing the extremely important holding role in the mid...

 

I gave Carra a 9 as he indeed was everywhere and did not put a foot wrong marking the premierships most potent goalscorer out of the game...

 

Gerrards last 20-30 mins was top class with the tracking back and tackles, but its a 90 minute game...
