'The Beatles were the sixties version of Westlife'

What would you say to a somebody(not me) who dismisses the Beatles as just a pop band who weren't anywhere near the level of the other bands of their era.

 

A guy at my uni consistently comes out with this and champions the Rolling Stones as a true rock and roll band while the Beatles were just an overrated pop band and makes the comparisons to Westlife and Boyzone etc

 

He hasn't heard an actual Beatles or Stones album mind. Just the greatest hits or whatever it was.

 

Whatever I say doesn't seem to change his mind.

 

Oh, and he swears blind that Bob Dylan cannot sing to save his life.
