Can't believe I'm starting a car thread

After the accident I saw the other week ( which may end up in court with me as a witness) I have decided to upgrade our family car. Currently have a Focus Estate. Want something a bit safer/more solid. I actually really like the Focus especially the heated windscreens ( and have a new model hatchback for myself as well) , but it looks a bit flimsy.

 

As I will of course be checking the crash test results in a car magazine, before you mention it I just wanted to ask what cars you recommend? Would prefer a hatchback, just for the extra boot space, but could be persuaded to get a saloon and change my bikes carrier.
