Did anyone used to buy tapes from Camden Market of bootleg's of gigs? They were ace, albeit of extremely varying quality.

Some I remember are:

Simple Minds :cold: was my first gig (at the NEC). Bootleg sounded like they were underwater. They were so pompous & overblown, it had to go onto 2 tapes.

HMHB - somewhere in London, mid-80s. During a lull btw songs, someone - with a REALLY thick scouse accent - pipes up with "Liv'pool top of the Leeeeeeeeege hahahaha..." much to the mirth of those around. Doubt that came from the mixing desk. Doubt there was a mixing desk.

New Order - somewhere in Brum, mid-80s I think. Barney & Hook go off on one at someone in the crowd. You can hear throughout the gig an annoying sound like a wasp buzzing around your ears, which was someone heckling them. Finally they snap. You hear from the punter something about 'a f***ing pop-group'.

Peter Hook - "ooooooooh, a f***ing pop group? What's wrong with f***ing pop-groups? You're at the front, you c***" with the pronounciation heavily on the 't'

Then they play a few chords, gearing up for the next song & Barney stops them - you hear something undecipherable from the punter.

Barney - "say that again, say that again..."

to which he obviously does

Barney - "come on stage, come on, YOU, come on stage"

Loud cheers - so I imagine he did

Barney - "We may not be a pop-group, but you're a f***ing w*****. Weirdo, 1234, 123"....(weirdo is the name of the next song)

kin class it was - lost it :(
