Guest RedLegend Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Reina - Starting to give me the willies. Flapping and punching wildly at everything recently. Aurelio - Not a good defender. Full stop. Carra and Agger - Barely won a header all night but at least we know they're much better than that. Finnan - best of the back four. Garcia and Gerrard were all over the shop defensively too. Galatasaray just passed around them in midfield. Momo needs to be in there. At least we won but plenty of work to be done yet.

The absense of Momo showed tonight, fluent getting forward yet we left a gaping whole in the back for Gala to expose...
Guest StevieFinnan3 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Proved Gerrard cannot play in the middle
lfc003 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Aurelio was given no protection at all tonight by Garcia, he was also too eager to attack tonight
RedBilledChough Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Proved Gerrard cannot play in the middleIt certainly proved that Alonso and Sissoko are our best central midfield pairing. Momo should be the first name on the teamsheet.
Hassony Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 we could have closed the game after going 2-0 up and we would have had people complaining about not going for more goals very entertaining game, and now we are in the driving seat with PSV, thats all that matter It certainly proved that Alonso and Sissoko are our best central midfield pairing. Momo should be the first name on the teamsheet.but andy gray knows for sure that Gerrard doesn't like to play on the right
Benitez Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 ALL OUT ATTACK! It's the way to go you know I really think tho, that it wasn't so much a defensive worry we have on our hands, cos we know that Carra and Agger are both strong enough, its more a case of stopping some of the attacks in the first place. Just no battle in midfield tonight, but I said that before, under a topic with a nice title, rather than a Kevan like drama queen title
Cunny Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 there is also a lack of understanding between Reina and the defence that was not evident last season. Every cross into the box provoked panic, our vulnerability to headed goals from crosses is very worrying, especially with Bolton next.

Damian_de Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 but andy gray knows for sure that Gerrard doesn't like to play on the right Had to laugh second half when he said 'if it was me i'd get Pennant off and play Gerrard wide right'
