Christmas Markets

the missus is quite keen to have a day's shopping before Christmas at somewhere where there is one of those open air Christmas markets. I've been toying with the idea of surprising her with a trip abroad to one in Germany or somewhere. The only one I've seen outside the UK is in Hamburg, anyone know what the other's are like - which is the biggest, best etc.
