IRELAND UNDER-17 SQUAD: Kieron Thorp (Charlton Athletic), Kevin O'Brien (Douglas Hall), Gareth Matthews (Norwich City), Adrian Moyles (Brentford FC), David Joyce (Birmingham City), James O'Brien (Birmingham City), Paul Honohan (Wilton), Lawrence Gaughan (Liverpool), Michael Collins (Liverpool), Shane O'Connor (Liverpool), Mark Nolan (Glasgow Celtic), Conor McCormack (Manchester United), Joe Collins (Portsmouth), Dean Marshall (Coventry City), Sean Scannell (Crystal Palace), Ian Daly (Manchester City), Kurtis Byrne (Norwich City), Simon Dunne (Glasgow Celtic).

Quick question: these wouldn't be part of the famous "golden generation" coming through, would they? Anybody know anything about them?

(Maldini: do they wear boxers or briefs?)

Gaughan is a CB, born in Sheffield, we signed him last year but he spent all of last season out with a back injury. Collins is a forward and O'Connor is a left-winger.

All three prefer commando.

Those are the kinda comments that are bound to set Coyler off again Maldini.

Read the small print, Libel, he's only doing what he was asked...!

Was just warning him he shouldn't be adding more fuel to the fire while the on-going legal action is still in the works.

Course I'm also never sure if you're asking those questions to poke fun at Maldini or you're looking to groom our youth players like you did Euphrates?

Here's me thinking I should go to the next Dublin meet up. I'd almost repressed all those hideous memories.

Here are the blurbs from the FAI site:

Laurence Gaughan (Liverpool)

Born: 14/2/90.

Central-defender. Highly-rated Laurence qualifies for Ireland through his Ballina-born grandparents. Injury prevented him playing for Ireland?s U16 team during the 2005/6 season but was included in the squad for the UEFA 1st phase qualifiers in Azerbaijan after regaining his full fitness.

Shane O?Connor (Liverpool)

Born: 14/4/90. Previous club: Wilton (Cork).

Winger/striker. Shane emerged on the International scene during the 2005/6 season, playing mostly on the left-flank. Impressed the on-looking Stephen Staunton during Ireland?s match against Northern Ireland, played in Dundalk in March 2006. Picked up an injury in that game but made his comeback and represented Ireland?s U17 team at the Hungarian International tournament in August 2006.

Michael Collins (Liverpool)

Born: 12/07/90. Previous club: Cherry Orchard.

Striker. Michael comes from a well known football family with uncles Eamon and David having played professional football in England. A clever ball player, he can play wide on either flank but is best serviced in a central attacking role. Michael was a highly sought by a number of cross-channel clubs during his days at Cherry Orchard but opted for Liverpool, where he currently plays for the U18 Academy team.
