Bill Hicks: Slight Return

I went to see this last night, it was f***ing horrible. I wasn't sure what it was before I went, The review said it was a play but it wasn't really. Basically it's a guy on stage pretending he's Bill Hicks back from the dead. He talks all the events which have happened since he died; 9/11, Bush Jr, Clinton, Denis Leary, Internet porn etc.

The problem is he's just not very funny, he does a really good impression of Hicks, sounds pretty like him and has all the mannerisms but all the jokes were really obvious, no subtlety at all. He was just throwing Hicks' catchphrases in every so often to remind you of what you were at.

It's gotten really good reviews though which is pretty strange, Hicks' friends have endorsed it too.

I reckon what must have happened was this guy was a stand-up himself doing bits like this in his act and people told him he was ripping off Hicks so he figured "well I look a bit like him, why not just go the whole hog"
