so a big feckin deal. it's not ok to lose & it's certainly not ok to lose to them & it's abso-feckin-loutely not ok to lose 3-0.

but

as was discussed last week, IF we had to lose one of this or chelsea (next week), in the longterm - over the course of the season - this was a better one to lose. no, it's not that simple or straightforward, but hopefully this put a rocket up everyone's a*** & in a week, we'll have beaten chelsea & it'll all be ok.

on the other hand...

I'm in Liverpool and I can tell you this'll hurt more than when we lose to Chelsea next week, a helluva lot more, mainly because there aren't any f***ing Chelsea fans up here. Seeing their smug BS faces makes me wanna punch their f***ing gob in, i hate them so much.

We won't lose to Chelsea next week. Rafa was saving Pennant, Bellamy, Gonzalez and Kuyt for what he saw as more important games, Chelsea and PSV. It's just a supposition on my part but that's what I reckon. I doubt we'll play the lineup we used today in either of those matches.

I amongst others looked at our starting line up today, and thought 'that's a strong starting line up' and look what happened. We will need a lot of luck to take anything at the bridge IMO, at Anfield I would be unsure, but away from home... Look how much luck on Everton's side helped them today.

I didn't, I raised questions about it on TLW before kick off, I didn't ever think Crouch and Fowler would work due to a lack of mobility.

No way was this a better one to lose, not a chance. It's the derby ffs.

Derby matches will be forgotten about when it comes to winning trophies. Losing to Chelsea is like losing 6 points to your nearest rivals. It is more important to beat Chelsea than it is Everton. Jib your pride off and look at it logically. I'd prefer to win both. I expected more than we got today.

So what?

So we're off to a poor start in the league, just like last season. 5 points dropped from 3 games with an away match at Chelsea to come next week. We could well find ourselves 11 points off the top by mid-September.

Not what I'd hoped for or expected but maybe my expectations were unrealistically high. I've already re-adjusted them to be honest - another 3rd place finish is the most likely outcome. We aren't yet good enough to win the league.
