I'm certainly going, just haven't worked out the logistics of it all yet. Because of other family things I may end up flying from Amsterdam, which is pretty cheap and convenient.

Assume you mean Sultanahmet, as that's where i'm staying. One night stay only and 75 quid flight but from down south as a flight from Manc on matchday is too expensive now.

Now also booked on a one-nighter. £82 Easyjet flights from Luton, and a 35 euro hotel (i.e. somewhere to drop the bag and maybe crash for a couple of hours...)

 

I had decided against this one on the grounds of cash, but that was just so ridiculously cheap compared to last time (£450 or so) that I had to go for it

And i could have still got you one for 106 quid from Heathrow as well.

 

Much cheaper than my 320 quid for two flights last time.

Was a bit worried then - checked the map on Lastminute.com and it showed the hotel to be about 30 miles West of Istanbul

 

Have since found the map with the hotel on (Same hotel - same tel no and same address) slap bang in the middle of Istanbul

See the Blue Mosque, Egyption Bazaar, Archology Museum, Yerbaten Palace, the Covered bazaar, Galata Tower and a few other bits and bobs..

 

Also, planning to travel from West to East and back again by water (Which the girlfriend suggested)
