Lived over there for a few months back in 2004 and loved it, was one of my favourite cities.

Just got back from a stag weekend there and can't believe how seedy it has become. You can't walk down the street for more than a couple of metres without being offered charlie or hookers (or rather bizarrely, half price midgets )

I never really went down to Wencesles Sq when I lived there, just once or twice as it was always a bit touristy and expensive (in comparison) and my hotel was up the other end, but it's so ridiculous now, every couple of steps, it's like Amsterdam, and it's even up in the old town where I used to go out almost ever night unaccosted. I know there's been strip joints and the like there for a while, like any big city, but it was never so in-your-face.

I thought at first it might be because we were a large group of lads and therefore likely to be stag do, but it was the same when we were in one's and two later one, bloke's thrusting fliers in your face for 'aqua lesby shows'

I am aware of the hypocrisy of going on a stag do there when the fact it has become seedy is due to the number of stag do's, but hey, I didn't choose it and I think it is a shame that such a nice city has gone like it and I fear for what it will be like in 5 years.
