I had a strange thought Last Night

Ive never seen Liverpool Win the league, for all the seasons of which they haven't I have been hoping, but we haven't...

I just fear that when we win the league, It won't get any better, and my appitite for football will decrease knowing I have experienced the major success we all wanted.

Some people felt the same after Istanbul, I for one never because I really wanted the league...

:hmm:

I read that and my first thought was, eh, never seen us win the league? WTF? But then I remembered I'm an old b*****d and it's really been that long. There's lads who've been watching for years and they've never seen us win the title.

WHEN Rafa wins it, you'll have a ball the next year winding everyone else up about being champions, and you'll wanna experience that again and again. You won't enjoy it less, it's just different.

I wonder if those same people still feel the same way though.

A comedown is inevitable after a major high.

don't we just know it?

I felt like that after Istanbul.

To see the club handed its very own European Cup...well there's no higher achievement for a club than that in my book. Everything else we have won had to be given back. But that big barstad is the ultimate reward for a club. I was in Rome in 77 and loads of people thought that was as high as you can go as a supporter.

However, anything else we do doesn't pale into insignificance because of it. We are a club that wins silverware, we always were. Even before Shankly we were in the leading pack, trophy-wise. Winning competitions is what we do.

I'm never coming down from that night, me. Never. But I'm still waiting to see what the club can do for us that'll top it. Cos it will you know. It will.

Sheffield United away can't come soon enough.

Where is it by the way?

by Crosby marina - keep an eye on the sticky about it in the General forum for details - can bring Kofi (sp?) or whoever if you want

different options about getting there, eg lift with me from town etc

(sorry mods, but this is a chance to recruit a quality forward)

i agree. since the age of two i had been praying to be at a european cup final. that was when i first started watching the videos. For me, istanbul was the absolute pinnical. I thought the FA cup final was a bit of an anticlimax compared to the previous year to be honest. It was the istanbul factor, plus the fact that i broke my ankle at old toilet watching the semi. getting to cardiff on the coach, then to the ground, then trying to see the cup, being unable to have a pint, then trying to get back to the coach asap made it a bit of nightmare.

however, i am now fully refreshed!!! let the games commence! :D
