Dublinred4ever Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Just got a text from me oul lad He's in a restaurant in Portugal sitting at a table beside Robbie Fowler. He's waiting for him to go to the jacks to ask for a signature for my (modest) collection. Would you say His s*** smells?
Dublinred4ever Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 I've never been to Mr Freddies myself but as far as I know its not on the marina but is in a village called Quarteira which is only a few mins from the marina. The area is v popular with footballers. A quiet bar I go into there regularly has the likes of Stevie, Carra, Hansen, Shearer, Riise etc etc in Its a bit quieter in that regard this year because most of them are at the world cup but even last month England had their training camp there and Ireland were there for a few days. Its a place where when you meet a player they're relaxed enough to have drink with you or chat for a while
muleskinner Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Is Mr Freddie's and Petuxa around the marina? Both are , as DubRed mentions, in the Quarteira/Almancil area, close to Quinta de Lago and Vale de Lobo. There are a number of other good restaurants in the area (inc. a great pizzeria) but you do need a car if you are staying round there. And it is getting more expensive with every passing year so be prepared to flex your credit cards.
Guest Red Flame Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Can't believe your dad as seen God himself, wow. Where abouts in Portugal is you Dad, am off there next week.It must be Fatima.
David Hodgson Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Mr Freddie's is alright but it's a bit stuffy, your Da wants to go to Petuxa, particularly if he likes fish. The karaoke bar (not much singin g happens fortunately) at Val de Lobo is a good night too, decent Chinese restaurant upstairs there as well. Know 'em well, as a veteran of Vale do Lobo, and Quinta. Of course, those of us in the know, realise that THE gaff in that part of the world is the 'oh so authentic' 'O Ribeiro' restaurant near Almancil.
HeWonItFromBrock Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 this has got nothing to do with johnny metgod then? Johnny Metgod - now what a strike that was.
Mike Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Johnny Metgod - now what a strike that was. he did more than one.sent from Valhalla with a foot carved by Thors hammer. He was born 38.

I always thought it was L'Hermitage or whatever it's called on the road between VdL and QdL. Never been and won't be either at 150 euro's a head or thereabouts. The best food I have when we are over there is at the beach bar off the road out of the back entrance to Vale de Lobo/Dunas Douradas. Edited June 16, 2006 by muleskinner

David Hodgson Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Is that you Judith? No, I'm her son, actually. You know, the rugged good lookin' lad. That's me.
