Guest bluehouse Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 WTF does he do? They paid reportedly millions for his contract and he has signed who...?Also who ranks higher, Mutinho or Arnesen?
Maldini Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 He's signed a few kids for their academy and is supposed to overhauling their scouting system.
AE Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 He signs all the great young kids fior the future, look at how young the Spurs team are.Chelsea have followed suit, both their new signings are under 30.
Dominus Maximus Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Arnesen was brought for his know-how and his connections. Paying 5 mil for him is nothing, if he can save 10 mil on the next deal because of his connections. Remember he was the one who discovered Romario and Ronaldo. Just as an example.
Eiler99 Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 There have been whispers that him and the special one don't get along... at all.
Guest bluehouse Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 There have been whispers that him and the special one don't get along... at all. More infighting at Chelsea the better.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 There have been whispers that him and the special one don't get along... at all. bit more than just a whisper wasn't it? Anyway, you won't find Arnesen setting up deals for ballack et al. he is in charge of the youth department.
The Hitman Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 There have been whispers that him and the special one don't get along... at all. Also been whispers that Mourinho and Kenyon don't get on,at all....

Just as an example.and Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Stam, Robben, Eidur Gudjohnsen (before he went to Bolton), Kezman, Cocu, to name a few... Arnesen has the best record for identifying and developing talent around, which is why Chelsea paid the big money. He was at Spurs for just over a year, and look at his results there from signing largely unknown youngsters.

Robben signed at a young age, but he had played in the first team for 18 months.
Internationinteroperability Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 No doubt Arnesen is superb at what he's doing but I can't stand his monny-grabbin' ar$e one bit! (I don't think he gives a feck though )
fred milne Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 He was at Spurs for just over a year, and look at his results there from signing largely unknown youngsters.A UEFA Cup place?
Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) The only ones he really "discovered" were Gudjohnsen and Cocu, the others were all established players when he signed them. Robben signed at a young age, but he had played in the first team for 18 months. Lots of managers take gambles on 'established' players unproven in other leagues. Arnesen's tends to pay off pretty well. It's all well and good saying they were playing elsewhere, but he still got them before any bigger clubs did. Edited May 25, 2006 by Anders Honoré

Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Ronaldo was the hottest property in Brazillian football, hardly a Arneson discovery. Romario was already a star in Brazil when PSV signed him.Arneson is a waste of money, best thing Spurs ever did was to get millions out of his move to Chelsea. so why didn't anyone else sign them? It's not like PSV has pulling power beyond compare, is it?
growler Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 its not just pulling power though. Its the risk. Thats why ronaldinho was at PSG for example. arnesen has signed who exactly since he has been at chelsea? Also, any kid would be foolish to go to chelsea, regardless of who the man signing them is. Players would have other agents talking about SWP, Parker, cole, Bridge etc.
