How long a contract did he sign last year. It may have to be revisited. A nice little increase in pay could be on the cards as a reward for a great season. I know Riise got a better deal after his first season.

F***ing annoying when things like that happen. Would he (or any player) offer to take a pay-cut after a year of a four/forve year contract if they'd been sh**?

if that was the case, salif diao would have been paying us to play.

Yeah but i am quite sure that when signed the potential for an increase was factored into rafe and the board's thinking. Reckon the days of us paying over the odds in wages from the outset unless they are truly an established superstar are well and truly over. Reckon we could more than outdo whatever he was getting or likely to get at Valencia without hanging ourselves if he proved to be useless or restricting ourselves from going up if he proved, as he has, to be worth paying more to....

would like to think that if he gets a raise its a sign of our better business acumen and player management under Rafa. It always helps cement the working relationship if you give yourself enough slack to 'reward' your staff. From Momo's perspective it will be a pat on the back and make him feel wanted by the club, from the club's perspective they will probably only be paying him what he is worth as an established player...

don't see the problem really...

good business and player management I'ld say,

nothing wrong with rewarding a player though, it's good for morale.

Completely agree with RP..

No i doubt anyone would take a pay cut

That Italian feller, who went voluntarily went to minimum wage cos he'd been injured?

If the lad signed for lets say 20k a week and then puts in performances that would justify paying him 40k then why not. Surely most contracts have a clause to increase the pay based on perfromance. Momo has been superb and has even risked his eyesight coming back to play this season. I'm not saying the lad himself would want an increase just that the club surely will realize that the football world has seen what a great talent he is and it's only a metter of time before he is being linked elsewhere.
