Yeah I think that might be about right. Annoyingly I think we're in a position where we'll be needing an upgrade on the left and in the centre, plus a replacement on the right.

It really wouldn't be. The midfield would still be too light/unable to dominate top sides, we'd lack available and clinical goal scorers and we'd end up with a makeshift defence for parts of the season when Konate and Gomez pick up injuries.

Whilst what you say is true, let's not view the season in isolation. It's been ages since we consistently signed players that made a difference to the first team. For all the 'we rebuilt the midfield' chat, MacAllister is the only 1 who was really good. Endo is a great squad player and Szoboslai is a bit meh. But should the height of our ambition be 'we hope some of our talented youngsters come good'?

They had a great season I agree but no other top club with any ambition is giving those lads significant minutes yet. We need to start thinking and acting like a big club.

If plenty of opportunities is more than the league cup and the 2nd leg of Champions League games after an 8 nil win then we've not strengthened anywhere near enough.

I'm not wound up (but thanks for the concern). Let's not kid ourselves though. We've seen this inactivity for years and years now. We're not going to spring into action and fill all the spots we need with too players. It'll be a 'the money was available should the right player be on the market, but the scouting team didn't believe there to be value around at this time. Hughes and co are really interested to see how Curtis Jones Jr progresses in his 1st year'

Less about the player and more about our lack of action. We needed a decent 6 last season and settled with Endo (who is a decent squad option) so we need to find someone there still. We need a decent centre forward, a central defender and a left back for definite. It won't be much longer before we're needing to replace Mo and that will be ridiculously difficult. If we've still got gaps as well as that we'll be in trouble budget wise. We're 1 of the biggest clubs in the world so we should be making enough money to be pushing on each season; not hoping for a cut price hidden gem to appear.

United now agree terms with Ugarte. Would be nice to see us pull out finger out and get some deals done.

The questions really are s***e aren't they? Like who really cares about how he's going to learn about the city? He's mentioned a few times that his playing style is similar to Jurgen's but with a few differences. I'd much rather hear in his own words what he thinks those differences are.

Can't seem to share the output but if you look at Nunez and Gordon on here for last season there's not much between them https://www.premierleague.com/stats/player-comparison We're not going to be much better next season with Gordon instead of Nunez/Diaz; hence the apathy. We don't need another talented player with mediocre goal returns. We need a proper goal scorer.

We've got Diaz, Gakpo and Nunez who all want to play that left hand side spot. Gordon is a good player but not a world beater so it's possible that he could be better than 1 of those 3 but not a dead cert. We're not known for spending tons of money so going for him when we need a proper striker, a number 6 and a CB for definite is not that exciting.

It's a bit of an odd 1 tbh. He's decent but not much more than that, plus it's an area where we have loads of options already. Really not fussed either way.
