''Liverpool's beleaguered manager Roy Hodgson set to be given one more chance to save his job'' By Rory Smith 11:00PM GMT 06 Jan 2011 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8244624/Liverpools-beleaguered-manager-Roy-Hodgson-set-to-be-given-one-more-chance-to-save-his-job.html

''Key Anfield squad members have been dismayed by the lack of activity from the new owners since they took over in mid‑October. The lack of activity in this transfer window only increases that impression, with the club currently considering an offer for the Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka. Players feel that promises have been broken before and will not endure another season of underachievement and uncertainty.'' http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/06/sacking-roy-hodgson-spanish-liverpool

Looking at that 7th place, at the end of last season, looks like a golden age now ... I just hope that someone has told NESV that clubs get relegated in the Premier League, unlike in the American sports ...

West Ham have tried to sign him on loan in the summer, but he couldn't obtain a work permit ... Not a chance, really ...
-
Wow, this reminds me of that famous ''Fernando Torres vs. Darren Bent'' debate, back in the early summer of 2007 ...
-
You can check it at the LFC's annual financial report ...
-
Babel is on half the reported amount ... Which makes the entire article pretty ridiculous ...

Interesting comparison ... I wonder what the French think of Napoleon, a couple of centuries after his fall ...
-
Depends really on the FSG's plans ... If they want to start a new long-term project, Coyle is certainly an interesting option ...

Can we please keep this as a decent poll thread ?

Liverpool close to appointing new chief executive
Macedonian_Red replied to Macedonian_Red's topic in Liverpool FC
Quite the opposite, actually ... The CEO is much higher in the club's chain of command, so I would expect for the new CEO to be responsible for negotiating our next Rafa ... -

Liverpool close to appointing new chief executive Liverpool owners John W Henry and Tom Werner will interview candidates for the vacant chief executive role on Friday with a view to making an appointment in the new year. By Paul Kelso 15 Dec 2010 The Americans turned to headhunters Spencer Stuart last month to compile a list of candidates, and will meet those on the shortlist to fill the role vacated by Christian Purslow, who resigned the week after New England Sports Ventures completed its takeover from Tom Hicks and George Gillett. NESV says it is committed to finding a business figure with "an interest and experience of football", and given the status of the club, will not be short of candidates. Henry and Werner have spent the week in the UK acquainting themselves with the club first-hand, and view the chief executive post as crucial to the club's future. "We want to make sure we have the right people in management, the right people to choose players, the right general manager or COO (chief operating officer), so that we have the revenues to bridge the divide [with other clubs]," Henry said in an interview with LFC TV on Monday. Former FA chief executive Brian Barwick, a Liverpool fan, has been linked with the role, as has former Arsenal managing director Keith Edelman, who acted as a consultant in the takeover. http://www.telegraph...-executive.html

Nah ... We will easily beat Fulham ... Our home form is not the problem ...
-
He was actually very good there ... Maybe because he was younger at the time, but they have missed him when he left for Seville ...
-
Well, the general idea of a competent CEO is to actually have someone that is good both commercially and in the footballing department ... It's been a while since we've had such a person running the club ...

Roy explains Torres omission Last updated: 15th December 2010 Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson revealed he left Fernando Torres on the bench against FC Utrecht on medical advice. Hodgson had pledged on Tuesday to play the Spaniard but had a last-minute change of heart before Wednesday's clash at Anfield. The game sorely missed the hot-shot as it petered out into a disappointing goalless stalemate. The Reds boss said: "I had a change of heart (on starting Torres). "I was seriously considering giving him a start but I had a talk with our fitness people and they convinced me it may not be the wisest move." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11669_6580027,00.html

I wouldn't think any less of him, but I hope you realize what happened to Keegan and Shearer at Newcastle in the 2008/09 season ...Slowly, but certainly, we are turning into a version of a Toon Army ... As I have said on many occasions, I am not supporting Roy in any way, but there is a certain manner in which this club deals with it's managers ... I do not consider myself as any sort of a super-fan, but I do support this club for 33 years and I want what's best for it, as long as it is done in The Liverpool Way ... Roy has already been stripped of a good part of his competences ... Comolli is obviously in charge of the transfers, and there are clear indications that Roy is being influenced on the team selection and the tactics recently ... He is already gone, but the news will be officially confirmed at the end of the season ...

OK, I know that I will regret this, but lets do it ... 1. Apart from rejects like Rijkaard, Bielsa and O'Neill, what quality manager is actually available at the moment ? 2. Are we really willing to risk Kenny's status as a proper LFC legend, by handing him the impossible task of qualifying for the next season's Champions League ? Because, once Kenny is appointed as a caretaker manager, the expectations will go sky high, and our squad is definitely not capable of challenging the top 5 clubs in the Premier League at the moment ...

Ah, Der Kaiser ...

Are you talking about Kaizer that was a regular at RAWK until a couple of years ago ? The one obsessed with Quaresma ?

Dec 14 2010 by David Prentice, Liverpool Echo Anfield legend Kenny Dalglish is currently employed in the role of Academy Ambassador, after being invited back to the club by former manager Rafael Benitez last season. Mr Henry declared: "There's no doubt about it, he needs to have a much more substantive role with the club. That's something we're looking at with Damien Comolli. He is key to this franchise." Chairman Tom Werner added: "We know what he means to this club. With his spirit and his tradition and his heart, it would be helpful if we could mirror that." There is little doubt Dalglish would welcome a more defined and influential role at the club. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2010/12/14/liverpool-fc-owner-john-henry-calls-for-patience-but-admits-results-are-unacceptable-100252-27820471/2/
