We were still suffering a hangover from 2005 and now we can finally shake it off and concentrate on the future. This summer will see some big changes which Rafa can tackle with a clear conscience and clear some of the deadwood which has hampered our potential for too long. Paolo Maldini can retire happy and I don`t think anyone can begrudge him that. He`s been a true leg-end of the game, a real gentleman and the bit they showed of him praising the Pool fans for their impassioned response when the teams came out for the 2nd half in 2005, was an example of magnanimity that fans, players and a manager of certain team; that cannot be mentioned; should learn from. The future is bright, the future is Liverpool. The new investment in our club is a genuine attempt to establish a dynasty and a force to be reckoned with; for which the board should be applauded; as it is evidently being used to underline; first and foremost; the fundamentals of the club, rather than taking a risk on a `global brand`. We can honestly say that, as our team grows stronger, we will be in more CL finals in the future, unlike certain other clubs who get investment from fickle, fly-by-night tax-evaders who guarantee nothing but their standing in The Times Richlist. Be strong, have faith and don`t be downhearted, we reached the final twice in 3 years(not 31 years), with a better but not great team, and only lost against a more determined foe which, imo, had more to prove at home than they did on the European stage.
