matty, from someone who has gone through difficult births twice, it's never as clear cut and smooth as you think. with Sabie I had 30 hours of labour, didn't realize her umbilical chord was wrapped twice around her neck, in the end, i was having heart failure becuase I was in labour for so long and they had to do an emergency c-section. For Sean, being premature, I bled out and had to be rushed to the operating theatre for an emergency op... just so you know, surprises do happen... it's not folly and i totally admire Xabi for wanting to be there with his wife just in case! you'll understand all this when one day the doctor comes up to you to tell you we have to do something NOW or your wife will bleed to death within 30 mins...
