  1. Given Elisha's fears....? I'm sure this must have been covered elsewhere, but I can't find the answer.
  2. Great draw. Our name's on the Cup.
  3. Yep, and all this 'thin end of the wedge' stuff is nonsense. Because we sing a few nasty songs doesn't equate with people losing their lives at Heysel. If you want your pious cake then join the brigade, from the 80's, who started pontifcating that the sport of football itself wasn't worth the risk to human life, with the passions it invokes. See, it's easier to be holier than thou, but the end game doesn't necessarily fit does it ?
  4. Well that puts things into perspective.........oh no, actually.......it doesn't....cos I just....... don't care.
  5. I don't care if we sing songs about Munich, Neville, Shipman, Georgie Best or odes to broken legs. It's football, it's the Mancs and it's what makes it fun. There are lines we shouldn't cross, but I'm more than happy to cross all of the above in the context of a bile filled football arena. I just don't give a sh*t. Football exists in a parallel universe where all normal rules of decency and political correctness simply don't apply. Football is tribal and ugly. It brings out our basest instincts. It's what makes it so darn addictive. Piety has very little place in football's realm. And this boo-hoo-ing over footballers breaking limbs is ridiculous. They are incredibly well paid, and Smith's life isn't over if he can't play football again. All this crap about things like his injury putting life into perspective make me heave. Breaking your leg puts ankle injuries or torn hamstrings into perspective, not life.
  6. I think it was a good save, but I don't think there is ever such a thing as an acceptable penalty miss. Somebody in our squad has to take it upon themselves to earn the art of penalty taking. The great penalty kings usually beat the keeper before the ball is struck. I can't remember when we last had a penalty where we sent the keeper the wrong way. Someone in the team has to take 20 pens a day in training until he's mastered the art. Then see if it can be applied to matches. Alternatively we'll to sign a mediocre player whose reliable from the spot. We must have lost an enourmous amount of point sover the past 5 years with our penalty record.
  7. I agree, and I think Yakubu is a good shout. Despite being an utter spaz, Djibril is usually a concern to defenders. He's unpredictable and fast. They have to be very aware of him. The same was true of Baros, despite his limitations.
  8. I've met Andy Gray, and I can confirm that he is a t*t. Having said that I generally enjoy his commentaries of other teams. I think we get too sensitive when it's Liverpool. I don't think it's the end of the world that he hasn't managed. He's played the game to a very high level. If we're going to belittle him for not managing, then by the same corollary no fan is even close to being qualified to judge Andy Gray's opinions.
  9. At his best he's one of the best volley-ers in the game. The Spurs goal was no fluke. He hit a couple of sweet volleys last night (inc the overhead) and a couple of crap 'uns. I think HK is proving himself a very important player for us, but for him to complete his rehabilitation I think he has to score more. He needs a couple of quick goals now to give him the belief again that he is a goalscoring midfielder, again.
  10. Yep, he was back to his best last night.
  11. I thought he did well last night, but that was the minimum we're entitled to expect from him.
  12. Hmmm....interesting...who do you think the players in question were ? A 'rebel on and off the pitch' with several England Caps and a multi-million pound goals-scoing midfielder'. The first one's definitely Robbie, and I reckon the other one was Danny Murphy. I'm right aren't I ?
  13. Yep. I thought Kewell did Ok too. He can do better, but did OK. Actually I don't think that anyone really merited over 6. We were bloody average today, but that'll do for me. A win's a win, especially when you've been on a losing streak. I'm sorry that's just nonsense. A '9 performance' is an exceptional thing, and Xabi is an exceptional player, who had one of his poorer games in a red shirt today.
  14. And the good news is...... that Crouchie's only one game from a ban ! ...oops...have I said the wrong thing....
  15. Poolfrog - kermit the frog
  16. I'm told by a very good source (no, really) that this summer will see us seek to secure Defoe (big surprise), SWP permanently (no, really, again), Victor, and another centre-back. These are obviously far from certainties but strong likelihoods, I'm told. fWIW this comes from the same place as my previous Fowler and swp info.
  17. You've changed ya tune HR. Wasn't I saying exactly this about 2 weeks ago.
  18. I don't think any of our forwards would get into the Blackburn team on current form. FSP was as effective as any of them have been over the season as a whole, and unfortunately, that's saying very little.
  19. For a team of our stature a run of 1 in win in 6, including 3 defeats is very bad/ a nightmare/ a crisis - call it what you like, it's crap. That's not to say the whole season will be, but the current situation is worrying, and anyone who says otherwise is delusional.
  20. I know I was one of those calling for a striker in the transfer window. I was calling for one when we sold Baros. It is obvious that a team has to have at least one good pace option up front, and after Baros left only Cisse remained. If he's injured we now have no quick players up front.
  21. ....and the knowing that we'll only sign people who reeeeeally reeeeally want to play for Liverpool.....like....erm...Kromkamp. Maybe Liverpool will sign me. I won't command much of a fee. In fact I'll resist the overtures of dozens of clubs, and play as long a waiting game as LFC want. I also reeeeeally really want to play for Liverpool, and have little propect of getting in the first team...I am the perfect modern Liverpool signing.
  22. Of course it is. I'm not writting off our season, but this is a very very bad spell, and it needs to stop now or we're going to undo all the good work from pre-xmas. We've won just 1 game in our last 6 in the prem. and that's not a blip it's a nightmare run. Yes we've played some big games, and been unlucky at times, but our response to set-backs in matches is worrying. We were wretched in the second-half last night. All true, but this run is highlighting how we failed to seriously affect our prospects with our 'work' in the transfer window. We have not bought players who can walk into our first team.
  23. que ? We have a midfield 4 that is arguably the best in the country. We need a really good option at right wing, and a top notch forward. Obviously you could add to that for the sake of depth, but our chances would be much better today if we had, say, Owen and Shaun Wright-Phillips in our squad. We are no more carried by Gerrard than Arsenal by Henry, or United by Rooney. The great Liverpool team I grew up watching was 'carried' by Kenny Dalglish. Gerrard is one of the top 3 players in the world. He's going to make a difference to any side.
  24. LOL. Yep, ickle Stevie Warnock is 'knocking' 25, isn't he ? I'm sure he's a lovely bloke, but I say let's hope he flukes his first cap and then sell him faster than you can say '3.5m for an England left back'.
  25. Hey bud, do ya fancy watchin the Charlton game in town on wednesday ? Mail me if so.
