The reason we have Insua instead of Bale is the fact the Insua is highly regarded in Argentina after starring in their u20 team. He is here initally on loan but with the agreement of buying him for around £1.8 million. Bale is also highly regarded but because he is british it will end up costing around £7 million to buy him. Theres the difference a player who is rated in his home country just as much as Bale but will cost £1.8 million instead of approx. £7 million.

The reason he cant get a game at West Ham is Reo Coker was moaning about his mate Mullins been dropped so Mascherano had to make way. Before his experience at West Ham most Liverpool fans would be falling over themselves at signing this guy. He is quality and is the type of player i would want to see at Liverpool.

FIFA inserted this rule to protect clubs from losing there wantaway players but this in fact harms the clubs who want to sell the player as well. As for the restriction of trade then that law must apply in this case because yes FIFA are restricting Mascherano trade. There is no way West Ham are going to play him so the guy is just going to rot in the West Ham reserves. The Argentina FA is bound to step in as they wont want one of there young star players rotting away. I think they have a bit of clout within FIFA as well.

I think Rafa will show evidence of at least 2 players who have played for 3 or more club during the year/season. I honestly dont see how FIFA can stand by their ruling when it has previously been exploited on a couple of occasions. It still wouldnt surprise me if Rafa signed Mascherano on loan but just didnt play. As long as the loan had terms where we could sign him at the end of the season. This way it stops any other club getting there hands on him and gives Rafa the chance to look at him in training etc. Call it a 6 months trail.

We signed a youngster in Insua who is very highly rated by people who actually watch the South American games. Rafa says he will be challenging for the 1st team by the end of the season. Riise can be frustrating at times. We all know he has scored some superb goals but everytime he gets into the opposition half he has to shoot when there is players in better positions. This will annoy Rafa who prefers the passing game and not to surrender possesion like that. I think the next few months will be vital for Riise as due to Neills arrival and Insua, Warnock and Aurellio all able to play there (i expect Warnock to be sold though) it may well be he has to go and play in midfield to get a game.

Hyypia this season has showed more then ever that he is a shadow of his former self. For his contribution to Liverpool Hyypia should be well remembered as he has been superb for us over the years. He also proved that you dont need to spend massive to get a top player. Agger over the summer and so far this season as showed that he can step into Samis position and he offers better distribution and has a great shot on him. I personally wouldnt want Sami to leave as i would like him to finish his career here but if he isnt going to get regular games he may well move on. Pretty sure he wont request a move as hasnt he stated before he likes the challenge of competition for places. Still unsure about Neill. Must have something about him considering the teams who are interested in him and he can play in any position in defence. Still think the a c*nt but he would be our c*nt.

From the start we have made so far this season you would say so but and to me it is a a big but (not as big as fowlers though) is we havent played well yet we are only 6 points of the top and we have the Mancs and Arsenal to come. If we were to close the gap by gettting results against them 2 then number 19 here we come.

I think it would be interesting to see Gerrard in the middle of a 3 man midfield. This would allow him not to have to keep running back as Alonso and Momo would be there. Gerrard supporting Kuyt as the lone striker would be worth a go with Gonzalez and Pennant on their respective wings.

I think its Dudek - Bascombe hinted that we might sign another keeper if either Dudek or Carson went on loan. Cant think of any older goalies who would be prepared to join and sit on the bench. I thought Paul Jones did a great job when he came.

The big difference for me between Kuyt and Crouch is the fact that Kuyt attacks the ball when he heads it. How many times last season and so far this as Crouch got his head onto the ball but not got enough power behind it. Kuyt is a more physical striker then Crouch and the comparisions of Shearer in his prime are more or less spot on in my opinion.

Ive said all along that Trezeguet on loan for season would be a great option. It would also free funds for Alves as well. If im not mistaken i think Trezeguet has recently said he is staying at Juve.
