Unless we'd signed him, in which case he'd be an overpriced unproven player that none of the other good teams wanted that we'd pinned our hopes on to provide some attacking flair with Suarez leaving and the ground potentially opening up to swallow everything good and pure sometime during the season.

Not that outrageous if you put it that way. Just don't see it happening though. Not intending to move goalposts here, but, Pepe's on a fair whack every week, Mignolet would be on decent money himself and its not a smart move for a club to have on of those on the bench every week. Dont see Mignolet happy to be competing with Pepe either. The competition statement, imo, is just our backroom trying to maintain Pepe's value as much as they can over the window.
