  1. I will indeed. Normally extremely reliable and proven as accurate a number of times. and hello to yourself...
  2. yep, could well be right on that one...
  3. If we score more goals than we concede in each game, it doesn't matter whether we're in the top 2, or the top 15. Where we went wrong last year is we sat back far too often, hoping the oppo wouldn't score and that we'd sneak a winner on the counter attack. When it didn't happen we had no plan B, or our game plan was too negative to score more than a solitary goal, so we were screwed. Our home performances were much more positive, we scored more, and so got our rewards.
  4. We were often too negative away from home, and payed too much respect to teams we should be turning over easily. The Mancs on the other hand just went for it, played positive aggressive football, and it worked. With the additions to our strike force, and the return of Kewell, we are in a far better position this season to be more positive & confident. Just hope the boss sees it that way as well.
  5. read this on another site... whether the option to take on the 4 year deal is ours, Maschareno's, or whether it's already been agreed it will happen regardless - I haven't a clue. I'm also under the impression Wet Sham have torn up his contract and have nothing to do with Masc any more, and we will pay any monies directly to MSI. I also don't believe Masc can be sold elsewhere without us first turning down the chance to buy him outright. No inside knowledge on this, just passing on stuff I've read elsewhere...

    Sissoko

Dominating teams is all well & good, but if we don't go on & beat them then dominating counts for nothing. I've no idea what the best way forward is, because to me Pennent is now starting to produce some of the play we know he's capable of, and I don't like the idea of Gerrard being moved to the right just to make way for Momo. If anything I'd possibly see how Momo & Stevie got on, but then we've got a top class player like Alonso warming the bench.

    Sissoko

Of course it matters. If we beat Watform but lose to Chelsea, and then Chelsea beat Watford, then we're 3 points down on their total. It's the same with not beating the Mancs. Every time we lose to them, they gain 3 points on us. And that's why we're chasing their tail again. Maybe that's true, but when we play Gerrard on the right, we may then in turn be stronger out wide, but we're definately also weaker in the centre. Until we find a way to play SG, Alonso & Momo in a style that doesn't automatically mean SG goes out wide, I'm not convinced all 3 can play at once.

which would all point towards Sissoko remaining on the bench once fit, and Gerrard to retain his place in the centre.

it is a tough one, but is our upturn in results down to Gerrards change to the centre, or the drop in the standard of the opposition, or maybe even both.

    even if we wont

no, not at all. The money could be used far better elsewhere, such as on the left hand side of defence. Riise is steady, but nothing special, and is certainly not having one of his better seasons so far.
  12. just keep drinking....
  13. I blame me mum, should have had me earlier.... Voted for the Mancs. Even though I can't stick the Chelsea attitude and the way they've bought success, over the years the Mancs have always been our most regular challengers for silverware, and for the most part, have been our biggest rivals and the team I've enjoyed us beating the most.
  14. I despise Chelsea and everything they stand for, and couldn't give a toss whether people think I'm cool or not. Historically I suppose they're not rivals as, well, they simply have no history. At least the Mancs got their success without simply chucking hundreds of millions at the team and buying every half decent player from across the world, sometimes simply to stop them playing for a rival (i.e SWP). And BTW, I've been a Liverpool supporter since the 70's - Now THAT'S

  16. oh b******s, please don't tell me I'm starting to think like that clown....
  17. You got it.... I should have been a manager....
  18. IF we can finish top of our group, and as is likely Poland finish 2nd behind Germany in group A, we'll play Poland on 25th June. We should be able to beat them even without the granny scuttler, and the 1/4 finals isn't until 1st July, so he'll have 2 1/2 weeks or so to get sorted. I think...
  19. pretty much sums up the way I see things as well. the board may not be the most skilled negotiators in the world, in Liverpool even , but they're not stupid enough to lose arguably the best manager in the world........are they....
  20. yes, very happy. we've improved overall as a team, no doubt about it IMO, although I would have hoped the improvement to be greater, particularly up front, but all in all, very happy with the league table as it stands. as for next year, we'll be even better....

    Bascombe

Morientes IMO has been very little better than average. He's obviously clever enough to play the game, has proven himself time & time again on the world stage, so there's no doubting his class, but most definitely no, he hasn't performed anywhere as near to the sort of level I expected or even hoped for when he first signed. He's slow, doesn't appear to be up for the physical side of the PL, and often doesn't seem to be putting in half the effort of those around him. People have mentioned how good him & fowler could be together..! Granted, 2 clever players, one a top quality goal scorer, and the other a very clever link player, but between them they couldn't outrun Molby & Ruddock - if they were playing now. I agree with a lot of what Bacombe said, but although he's maybe being a little harsh, he isn't a million miles away.
