I know, my point, which maybe wasn't made clearly, was that what I hope is that with the sale of alonso plus our existing transfer budget we'll be able to do what i described. I'd like to draw your attention to my use of the word 'hope' in the previous sentence.

If in exchange for Xabi we ended up with Silva, Martinez (or similar) and Negredo I think i'd be OK. If we didn't get either of those three and kept Xabi I'd be happier. Xabi is, at least, a known quantity. If we don't manage to get a decent replacement and strengthen our remaining weaknesses (Left Forward, Nando Plan B) and lost Xabi we're f***ed. And assume Bob does one, who we gonna get as a Right Back?
