  1. He's a good player but to make it for us, especially in those attacking position, you need to be a world class talent which Peterson isn't.
  2. Very excited about this guy, looks a terrific prospect. Reminded me of Sturridge quite a bit. Origi, Sterling and Markovic is an incredible group of attacking talent.
  3. Where would he get games alongside better players? Good move I think, hope they'll play him CB.
  4. Do you really think Aspas will ever play for us again?

Would expect Sturridge, Henderson, Coutinho and Sterling all to sign new contracts on fairly high wages in the near future. Regardless of the size of the wage bill, we are certainly getting better value for money than when FSG came in.
  6. Confirmed in his interview on the offal that he has a liverbird tattoo.
  7. In a general sense, perhaps, but yesterday was hardly the time for that debate.
  8. That interviewer with Carroll after the game was absolutely beyond belief . "It's almost impossible for a centre forward to jump without the referee giving a decision against you, your arms have to go somewhere". Yeah sure but not in the keeper's bloody face!
  9. Ilori back from injury and playing 90 min for Granada today in a 4-1 loss.
  10. That goal is great and a perfect example of why Rodgers wants his teams to play it out from the back. The passing between the defenders and ultimately Flanagans turn takes out their whole front five. Bentaleb is left all alone with Coutinho running against him and behind him our whole front 3 plus Johnson is running at the defence. There is no way they are getting out of that situation without conceding, I think it would probably have been a goal if Coutinho had slipped it through to either one. Fantastic stuff.
  11. Great player, love him to bits. Fantastic attitude, composure and intelligence. Massive credit to Brendan as well for giving him his chance when most of us had written him off.
  12. So so umpressed by him. Suddenly looks to have a great future at the club, who would have thought just a few months ago. Massive credit to the lad for the improvements he has made, looks much more composed than before, better on the ball and his pressing is excellent. Massie credit to BR as well for giving him a chance that many might not have. By the way, who would be 3rd choice RB for England for the world cup squad?
  13. The fact that Smith is a LB and Ilori CB might explain that.. Think Ilori has looked quite good in the reserves, a bit light-weight perhaps. He has four experienced senior internationals in front of him so was always going to be tough. Plan was probably from the beginning that he would be ready to challenge from next season.
  14. Should start every game. And if Brendan doesn't want to play Agger next to him, we might as well cash in on him in jan.
  15. Top 4 is very dependent on what other teams do though. As long as we're improving and finish there or thereabouts I'm all for extending it.

It does make sense though in an era where (soon) neither owners, management or players have any deeper feelings for Liverpool.

Same thing with Ajax, De Boer, Bergkamp, Overmars, Stam, van der Sar all involved with the club. Would love to see something similiar with Gerrard, Carra, Fowler, Hamann etc. Can be in very different roles as well, both Overmars and van der Sar are some sort of directors for example.

I have a number of friends up here in Sweden (who normally mostly just watch the national team and WC/CL) who all really enjoyed Being Liverpool and has been keeping an eye out for LFC since then and also keep bringing up that they want to go to Anfield. Im sure there are similiar cases all over the world and that the show will eventually lead to a few thousand people making the trip that wouldnt have otherwise. And in terms of the image the show gives of the club, outside of England I havent heard a bad word about it.
  19. Very interesting how deep he is playing, reminds me of Gundogan in that clip.

I think people are overly sensitive about being a "selling club". The only way to get from where we are now to where we want to be is to keep increasing the value of the squad. I know many dislike talk in those terms but it is the reality. In those terms selling Suarez this summer probably makes sense, he should be near his peak value-wise. Say we invest the money in 2-3 successful 10-25m players we should be in an overall better position. The risk is of course in getting those signings right, but our last two signings from that bracket bodes well.

Or a sensible move bringing in a CEO candidate in a less crucial role initially to determine if he has got what it takes...
  22. Looking at this objectively and in isolation, you can definately argue that selling Pepe could make sense. Let's say we replace him with someone 4-6m cheaper and on 40-50k less a week, that is money we could do with in other areas. Going by Reina's last few seasons form, you could probably find a replacement that is not necessarily worse either. That is however not taking into account factors such as losing a character like Pepe, the chaos of breaking up the back 5 even more as well as Pepe's improving form the last few months. Not saying I would do it, but think slating FSG for reviewing under-performing high earners is wrong imo.
  23. The difference being that it was true in his case..
  24. I completely missed that one. When did he say it? In respond to what question?
  25. Surely he must have a clause so that his contract can be terminated now that we have new owners? Don't know what Purslow was doing otherwise, Roy was always going to be a temporary solution.
