  1. thats a shame ,he's had bad injuries and didn't he have really bad depression as well? can't be that old either.
  2. Yeah he was in the middle of a beach and said if you want a comparsion of wealth with other club owners in the premiership (he picks up a clump of sand in one hand) thats glazers money ,(picks up another clump of sand in the other) thats the abramovich money , as for the rest of the sand on the beach ....thats the sheikhs The media are loving the sheikh angle ,obviously an investment company is less interesting .
  3. I saw the northwest news ,they sent one of their reporters on a nice holiday to dubai to basically tell us all that sheikh mohammed is very rich ....and that samir al ansari has a Liverpool crest on his mobile phone ,the most interesting person on it was the analyst who said that DIC see Liverpool as a long term investment just as they do with the travel lodge for example ,they want travel lodge to be the number one budget hotel in britain by the time the london olympics come around . The dubai reds themselves weren't on very long ,blink and you would have missed them.
  4. just seen that odious creep on question time demanding an apology from Tony Blair for making a mistake ,telling him to apolgise to families affected by the Iraq war ,the hypocritical t*** should look closer to home and issue his own apology with some meaning before demanding it off others.... ,just switched off ,can't watch his horrible ugly mug any longer .

    Tommy Smith

I have seen quite a few articles by Tommy praising benitez ,he is allowed an opinion ,sometimes we can get a bit touchy.
  6. You are nothing special if you can only sing when you are winning .
  7. in all probability it was our last chance to win a trophy and it was treated with contempt.
  8. or in Fowlers case 'pass and find it hard to move'
  9. He was so bad I thought he was throwing the match at one point.
  10. wasn't that when hyypia got sent off ,at least we had an excuse
  11. Arsenal get players in who are fast ,skillful and athletic ,they make sure they have it in their youth and it goes right through their entire set up ,it still feels like rafa just doesn't get it , his youth player for example is Paletta who is as slow as a snail ,they wouldn't have him at Arsenal for that reason. We had over 60 per cent of possession against arsenal in the FA cup but it was irrelevant ,under houllier it was the opposite all we ever did was counter attack with the pace of owen . If only we had the balance right.

  13. Daily Express 'Rafa's 300m shock....no spending spree for Liverpool as big four slump 1.3b in debt ' so sayeth the prohet of doom and gloom ,wonder what fridays headline will be like if there is some kind of announcement by DIC tommorrow.
  14. probably go to chelsea ,they could offer enough stupid money ,even if they offered 5 or 6 million thats pocket change for them but would be ridiculous for us for someone coming to the end of a contract. It seems rafa won't go over 2 million if he can help it (thats the rumour) I could see the likes of chelsea and even newcastle offering far more.
  15. seems rafa has got a debate raging in the 'bolton news' paper http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/mostpopular...ur.php#comments

    Kuyt

can't be many players who work harder for a whole 90 minutes than dirk kuyt , if he is like a duracell bunny ,one minute he's defending the next he's tryign to score or he's out on the wing ,I wouldn't be surprised if he served drinks at half time and drives the team bus as well.
  17. decent article in the sunday times entitled
  18. How many years have to go by before people give up on excuses ? I thought we'd be closer at this point in time ,even if we do take into account injuries ,an unkind fixture list , key players out of form . Just hope come the end of the season we claw point back ,would be pretty embarassing if we end up 20 or more points behind after 3 years of the same manager in charge .Its not like you can say the manager is new anymore or they aren't his players or he hasn't had money to spend etc. I'm just in a grumpy mood today and I'm just sick of that word 'consistency' ....I'm sure we'll win the champions league !
  19. gutless ,outmuscled, ran out of ideas .......thats quite an indictment isn't it!
  20. crouch worth 12 million ..... 'Shaun Wright-Phillips is expected to leave, even though he does not want to, and although Chelsea are holding out for a permanent deal they may have to accept a loan to begin with. The winger is hoping Liverpool, who will buy Blackburn's Lucas Neill, or Arsenal, with Arsène Wenger promising no arrivals , will come in but it is unlikely.' this was also from the independent ,bit more believable than the crouch and villa story .
  21. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/...p;TEAMHD=soccer Dubai International Capital, the investment company behind the proposed takeover of Liverpool, insist they have a long-term strategy in place for the club including significant funds for new players. The company have responded to reports in today's Daily Telegraph that they plan to sell the club in 2014 having first made a huge profit from what the newspaper described as "purely a business deal". A DIC source tonight sought to assure Liverpool fans that were the takeover to be concluded there would be "the best possible" financial support for boss Rafael Benitez. They said: "What DIC is doing is planning to make sure that, if a deal is done, Liverpool has the best possible funding in place going forward under DIC stewardship. "This is particularly important as we would need to get on with the stadium early in 2007 and it takes time to sort out the necessary financing. "This is also important in terms of making sure cash is available for the ongoing strengthening of the playing squad. "Should DIC acquire the club, Liverpool will be well run, both on and off the pitch, and we are currently laying the groundwork to ensure that will be the case." But DIC officials have pointed out they are yet to successfully conclude their takeover of the club and that, as a result, talk of plans to sell it off for profit are premature. The source added: "DIC has not yet formally made an offer, never mind completed a deal. Certainly there are no plans to exit an acquisition we have not even bought yet. "It (DIC) is a very serious investor with considerable resources at its disposal and the ability to take a long-term view. "Equally, we believe that we understand the responsibilities that come with owning Liverpool Football Club. "DIC has made it clear that, should a deal be concluded, it would not interfere in the day-to-day running of the club."
  22. Reading his previous articles on investment ,he seemed to have some kind of inside track on the Gillett bid (or so he thought/said) so he must have been gutted when DIC came into the frame ,when Liverpool gave the DIC bid priority mihir bose said that Gillett wouldn't give up and it looks like what he's saying is true especially as he's putting their bid in a good light ,why would he do that unless he wasn't up their backside? "The document also provides a wonderful insight into DIC's thinking but is very different from the fans' expectations about this purchase ? and would have been very different from the purchase of the club by Gillett." load of b******s and biased as well. A document only he has seen ,its 'wonderful insight' ,oh and gillett mentioned ...surprise surprise. liverpool echo - steven morgan telegraph- mihir bose http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...08/sfnliv08.xml "the American who owns the NHL ice hockey team the Montreal Canadians, has not given up hope of taking control of the Merseyside club.....Gillett is determined not to give up and the next few days could see a scramble to win over Moores." Start trying to sink a rival bid through the media by turning the fans against it ,noone can comment really untill the proposals come out , its hardly fair to judge untill the dubai people come out and explain their plans ,so far they have said all the right things about the club and been respectful. To say DIC are in it for profit is hardly breaking news ,but that article seems to contrast with the few comments from al- ansari himself "DIC has a strong track record as a very serious investor with considerable resources at its disposal," said Sameer Al Ansari, CEO at DIC and a Liverpool fan. "At the same time, we are supporters - of the game and of the club. Liverpool's investment requirements have been well publicised and we hope we can agree a deal that will provide the club with the funds it needs, both on and off the pitch."
  23. they claim to be talking about what could be the biggest story in the next 12 months which is Liverpools take over ,joined by rick parry. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,31329,00.html Denny kelly ,gabrielle marcotti ,Guillem balague discuss whether its a good or bad thing Hows it going? lot of work goin on ,tremendous amount of effort going into it by DIC so we look forward to that coming to a conclusion asap Whats the time frame for that ? don't know .will have a better understanding by the middle of the week Its no secret that liverpool have been looking for investment? whats been your brief and the specifics you have been looking for ? rick-Main priority in funding for the new stadium ,a project thats been worked on for 5 years ,a huge capital commitment from the clubs point of view and not one which we wanted to take on board by simply borrowing ourselves so we've been looking for a partner who can help us with that but first and foremost it had to be a partner who understood the traditions and values of Liverpool whilst at the same time taking us forward At the turn of the new millenium there wasn't one premiership club in overseas ownership ,if liverpool deal goes through and there seems to be a good chance there will ,is that a concern? rick-It has happening quickly that tends to be typical of football ,the pace of change increases all the time ,the game never ever stands still and its changing at an increasing pace ,I think providing the owners are coming in with the right intentions and the right motivations then the nationality isn't important ,although if they have the wrong intentions and simply want to make a quick buck then again it doesn't matter what the nationality that can't be right marcotti - the old style owners wanting to break even and put the money back into the club are being phrased out ,the primary investors now want a return on their investment ,is that a concern ,having owners who want to make profit? rick-If you leave abramovich to one side ,its extraodinarily difficult to invest the amounts in that are required certainly in our case in building a new stadium ,the amount you have to invest in the team of course is increasing all the time so I don't think its a case of owners being content to write out ever increasing cheques ,the pressures are just too extreme and I also think clubs have got to be self sustaining and stand on their own feet as thats the way to preserve 100 years which is important to us .So I don't think there is anything inappropriate . we are whether we like it or not are businesses now, we still passionately believe we are a football club ,thats what we revolve around denny kelly- that is correct everything you say but liverpool fans might be alarmed when you talk about financing the new stadium as you need to be investing in the next 1 and 2 years in a better squad of players to make up the tremendous points gap between Liverpool and the clubs at the top. rick - Thats true we accept that and rest assured we will carry on investing into the team ,but what we are doing in investing in a new stadium is making sure we keep pace with our rivals , we are millions of pounds behind manchester united before we even kick a ball becos of their extra capacity , thats vital , that of course will bring new revenues streams which will of course be reinvested into the team .The stadium isn't about building a momument its about building a better facility that will generate more revenue which will be reinvested into the team ,the team will not be neglected in the mean time ,thats precisely the reason for seeking investment and resources becos we simply cannot afford to do all the things we need to do ballague: the fans seem to be excited about whats happening but there is a line of thinking that is concerned about being run as a company so they won't be throwing money around straight away ,they'll just have to see how things go as there is the debt and the stadium to be paid etc ,there is a second line of thought that liverpool might get 20 million now and a further 200 million next summer if neceassry to improve straight away (think thats he said ) rick: if we did know about that we certainly wouldn't broadcast it, becos the last thing we would want is to broadcast our budget but I can assure you those are wildly speculative but I would say to the fans that are prospective investors recognise our values and traditions and winning things that really came from shankly ,our heritage is all about trophies and they understand that and thats what they are buying into and the cycle that works best in football is the virtuous cycle ,success on the pitch generates further revenues that can be reinvested into the team. denny kelly -its going to be an enormous deal for english football, people used to say we need to be more like liverpool , how do you see liverpool doing things in 5-10 time? how do you want to be like? rick- we still want to be like liverpool ,doing things in the liverpool way denny kelly- except winning the premiership? (snide c***)# rick-that is the liverpool way of course is to win premierships ,thats where we want to get back to ,the highest possible priority ,The thing we dream about more passionately than anything else is to win trophies but in the liverpool way and to be respected by others even if not loved by everyone .Winning silverware is the only focus ,we are in changing times as ever and when people look back and talk about tradition they forget that shankly was the biggest innovator of the lot ,I have read a few stories and strange comments lately that shankly would be turning in his grave ,well shankly was the great innovator the club was going nowhere before he arrived and he was always one to bring about change denny kelly- theres different type of takeovers you can be lucky ,you can get an abramovich or end up with poor communication and cultural differences that crush the club, I watched american football and the experts were speculating on the future on the coach of the tampa bay bucanner coach who 3 years ago was winning the superbowl and whose team is now doing appalling the american press said they wouldn't sack him becos they can't afford to pay out his contract as they needed the money for manchester united ,isn't that the world turned on its head? ,a large investment in english soccer constricting what they do in america cos they need to finance man U with dough. Marcotti - if we had more time I would have loved to ask him when they were talking to the prime minister of thailand there were people saying 'oh no human rigths abuse blah blah, here even though DIC are the investment company of the dubai royal family ,lets be clear about this , a bunch of people who by accident of birth dominate a country which is not a democracy ,where there is very little limited free speech and has been cited by anmesty international and one of few countries to recognise the taliban ,these people will now own liverpool football clu ballague -I don't think parry could say it but the whole deal will go through on 1st or 2nd of january ,the dubai people went back on friday last week and they said it was done and dusted ,it won't be like west ham dragging on and secondly I insist on this its not the royal family buying Liverpool but a corporation run as a company (gotta love balague ) marcotti - a 100 per of their shares are owned by the maktoum family ,what company is that ? ballague - its a company run as a company ,its not as a company like abramovichs companies getting where money getting into the club like nothing marcotti- the people who own this company are the royal family of another country ballague- it worries me when people assume that foreign going to be a problem ,if people ran up a debt as is being quoted at liverpool of 80 million then it wasn't run up by foreigners. denny kelly - we aren't worried by foreigners but worried by the foreigners they are. As a side note how seriously did barcelona take the world club championship? ballague -very seriously ,you should have seen the face of deco and ronaldinho ,after the match they were destroyed, the same face we will see at anfield when they get knocked out in the champions league . arrogance from barcelona the same arrogance they showed when they were drawn with Liverpool ,all laporta could say was 'sing beatle songs' he started singing beatles songs and said 'its brilliant and I'm going to the cavern and I'm going to matthew street' will that be after a defeat at anfield? yes I was bored when I wrote that ,I had nothing better to do.
