We were always gonna be half arsed about this game. We've thrown league games ahead of big European/Cup games or finals in the past and rightly so. Its probably reasonable to expect a better performance with our second string at home against fulham, but its a sign of the times. Yes our big summer signings were all on the pitch yet they were woeful, but our summer transfers debacle has been talked about countless times. It will be just as s*** for the Chelsea league game, both sides will rest players We must win this weekend
So Woy will have an attempt to "win the tournament". Wait til he backtracks when they get knocked out and blame everyone else for it, and how reaching the quarters is a tremendous achievement considering he had no time to work with the players
A great pairing relatively to what we can put out on the park, think they're our best midfield two pairing. Not counting Gerrard coz he needs to be played behind the strikers and not in a two Lucas and Spearing provided a great base for our resurgence 2nd half of last season
Don't think they are the same at all. Toure can do the Lucas stuff while being f***ing effective going forward. You want one of those partnering Lucas and it'd be a partnership, just like how Lucas and Spearing is a great pairing
Not old fashion at all, in fact with the pace and physical demands of the modern english league, it's absolutely necessary. An Essien, Yaya, Song, or even Sandro
