    They hired him because the data said he was the logical next step from Klopp. They will have the data from the first 9 games, as will he. Unfortunately, I don’t think the “eye test” plays a major role in decision making under owners like FSG.

    Can’t shake the feeling that we’ve started this season in energy conservation mode. The cynic in me thinks the data lads are advanced-statsing the intensity out of our game because it’s going to be a long old season. Or maybe it’s just a case of an unfamiliar group needing time to gel.
